At Robina Town Dental we are focused on providing all of our patients with high quality, safe dental care and as a result sterilisation and infection control are of upmost importance. Our patients can feel comfortable knowing that we are QIP (Quality Innovation Performance) accredited which means that we have met a series of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. We also follow the infection control guidelines set out by the ADA (Australian Dental Association). All of our dental equipment is either single-use or properly cleaned and sterilised between patients in line with Australian standards.
Our dental team are extensively educated and trained in infection control processes and pride themselves in providing high sterilisation standards for all dental treatments.
An Orthopantomogram (OPG) is a panoramic x-ray which displays all of the teeth in the upper and lower jaw as well as those that are yet to erupt. This three dimensional, wide view shot shows the growth and positioning of all of the teeth and also helps our dentists detect any issues with the jawbone or the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
The procedure involves the patient standing and resting their chin on a small shelf. They will also need to bite on a sterile mouth piece which will steady their head, as it is important that you do not move during an x-ray. The x-ray only lasts a few seconds and there should be no discomfort. An OPG is most often required for orthodontic planning, assessment of wisdom teeth or a general overview of the teeth and jawbone.
3D ConeBeam imaging is the latest in high resolution, low radiation dental technology. 3D ConeBeam imaging provides dentists with better visual information on your teeth, mouth and jaw from every angle.
3D ConeBeam technology allows for a more detailed and accurate visual scan. This 3D scan data is commonly used for wisdom tooth extraction planning and tooth implantation treatment. The x-ray only lasts a few seconds and poses no discomfort.
If you are, or could be pregnant, then please advise your dentist at the beginning of your consultation before an x-ray takes place.
X-rays are extremely important in detecting issues within the teeth, gums or jaw bone. Low dose digital x-rays use 90% less radiation than standard x-rays and are the preferred choice at Robina Town Dental. In addition to the low radiation levels, these x-rays are also available instantaneously on the computer, allowing your dentist to quickly and efficiently identify any problems, while also being able to show you what is happening.
Laser dentistry provides precise soft tissue that can often reduce the amount of bleeding and swelling experienced with other treatment options. Most often used for gum lifts, removal of diseased gums or decontamination of gum pockets, soft tissue lasers can eliminate the need for stitches while providing a pleasing and often permanent result.
At Robina Town Dental we believe in the importance of patient education and want you to be involved throughout your treatment. An intraoral camera is a small digital camera that connects to a TV or computer and displays footage directly from the inside of your mouth. This allows our dentists to show you what they are doing while performing a comprehensive examination. Photographs can also be taken to be added to your dental records allowing for progress to accurately be followed over time.
